Folketingets Præsidium is owned by the Danish Parliament.

As of May 2025, Folketingets Præsidium decided that the question of whether Denmark should recognize Palestine as an independent state is to be prohibited as a topic for next year’s school election. The ban is implemented because recognizing Palestine as an independent state "involves a high degree of complexity and is a potentially sensitive topic for specific students and their families," according to Folketingets Præsidium’s explanation to Politiken. The 2026 school election is for students in seventh, eighth, and ninth grade.

Composition of the Presidium
As of May 2025, the presidium deals with the internal affairs of the Parliament, such as the management of meetings in the Parliament chamber, operations, and official representation of the Parliament. It is the Speaker of the Parliament who makes the final decisions, as the deputy speakers’ roles are formally only advisory. The presidium is elected for 1 year at a time.

As of May 2025, the presidium of the Danish Parliament consists of the Speaker and 4 deputy speakers:

- Speaker Søren Gade (V)
- Deputy Speaker Leif Lahn Jensen (S)
- Deputy Speaker Karina Adsbøl (DD)
- Deputy Speaker Karsten Hønge (SF)
- Deputy Speaker Lars-Christian Brask (LA)

The Speaker is elected by a majority in the Parliament for 1 year at a time, when a new parliamentary year begins in October. The 4 deputy speakers come from the 4 largest parties that do not hold the speaker position.

The Presidium has 5 parliamentary secretaries attached. The 5 secretaries are elected from among the members of Parliament, and they lead meetings in the chamber if the Speaker or a deputy speaker cannot be present. The secretaries also assist during votes when the electronic voting system is not used, and they sign passed laws together with the Speaker.
