Peace Now Israel criticizes the settlements and supports a two-state solution but does not challenge the Zionist foundation of the state of Israel – a system that is structurally colonialist and apartheid-based (source).

By accepting the so-called “Jewish and democratic” state, Peace Now Israel legitimizes a model in which Palestinians are treated as second-class citizens, and ethnic dominance is maintained through laws, military force, and institutional discrimination. The movement primarily focuses on the occupation after 1967 and thus chooses to ignore the original displacement of Palestinians in 1948 (the Nakba), as well as ongoing violations of rights for Palestinian refugees and the millions living under occupation or in exile. By not recognizing the right of return and separating the struggle against settlements from the broader struggle against apartheid and colonialism, Peace Now – despite its intentions – functions as part of the occupation state’s liberal opposition, seeking to “improve” the system rather than dismantle its oppressive structure.
